Onions never cease to amaze me. I may be subjective, as I am a true onion fan. And guess what – when you bake it and mix with oregano and Greek yoghurt, you get a savoury dip you WILL make again!
To truly nail this recipe, use the fresh oregano leaves. I’ve made this dip countless times – many times with dried oregano. It is still extremely yummy, so don’t back out if you only have dried spice.
Much like with any dip or sauce, it’s up to you to tweak the amount of ingredients in order to achieve the consistency and flavors you like. Add two tablespoons of Greek yogurt, mix and check if it is liquid enough. Also, keep in mind that feta is salty, so be careful when seasoning with salt. Pepper is quite optional; taste the dip before adding it and decide whether it’s the right spice for this mixture or not.
If you’re wondering which snack would go perfectly with such rich and interesting dip, my vote goes to savory twisters with fresh rosemary and capers. All the aromas blend perfectly, for a truly memorable appetizer.
Keep the dip in the fridge for up to 7 days. Just kidding – it will be gone as soon as you serve it!

minutesIt comes as a true surprise how delicious this dip is. The reason is very simple – onions and oregano make a fantastic combination. Topped with fresh pepper and creamy Greek yoghurt, this dip offers a taste you won’t forget.
Ingredients
3 medium onions
A handful of fresh oregano leaves*
50 gr feta cheese
Greek style yoghurt, around two tablespoons
Salt and pepper
Olive oil
Directions
- Preheat the oven.
- Cut the onions into ¼ and place them onto the baking tray. Top them with oregano leaves, salt, pepper and olive oil.
- Bake until the onions get a brownish crust and become soft. Remove from the oven and let the mixture cool.
- In a chopper or food processor, mix the onions with oregano and seasoning, feta cheese and yoghurt for a minute or until you get a creamy consistency.
- If the dip is too liquid, add more feta cheese. My serving proposal for this amazing dip is with super-tasty fresh rosemary and capers twists.
Notes
- *If you’re unable to put fresh oregano leaves, use dried ones instead.
